1/72 AIRFIX CURTISS HAWK

This is the Airfix Curtiss Hawk 81-A-2 from a few years back

All brush painted; Lifecolor for main colours, Tamiya Gloss before decals and Lifecolor Matt varnish to finish. MIG neutral wash on the udersides and cold grey wash on top

Done as it comes from the box except the wing pitot which broke removing it from the thick sprue connector.

The Tomahawk is the old Airfix kit

1/72 ACADEMY F-14 TOMCAT

One from a Britmodeller Group Build from a few years back

F-14A VF-41 ‘Black Aces’ from the Academy kit

Paint by Lifecolor

1/72 HOBBYBOSS HAWKER SEAHAWK

The Hobbyboss kit is a vast improvement on the ancient Airfix version I built as a kid

Not one of my best efforts but I had fun with this one a few years back, may do another in Suez colours and take more care

Decals were a bit thin so obtained a spare set to ‘double up’ and help stop bleed through

1/25 AMT FORD F-150

Take a completed, unpainted, AMT Snap together truck, take apart, paint and reassemble. Weather gently to finish …..

1/72 SPECIAL HOBBY PINTO

I have always wanted to build a Pinto after seeing the pics of Mike Dillons aircraft in the copy of Jet Warbirds by Michael O’Leary I have owned for the past 20+ years

I had the Eagles Tallon vac once but sold it unbuilt so was pleased to find out MPM Special Hobby did an injection moulded one

It goes together quite well but there are no alignment pins on any of the parts so you need to take care during assembly, white is Humbrol acrylic 22 from a rattle can followed by Vajello gloss varnish again from rattle can.

The canopy didn’t seem to fit well so I aligned in best on the port side which left a gap on the right hand side but I’m not showing that as I lifted the decals on the nose while masking the anti glare panel, thought I had covered that area with varnish but obviously not well enough (I have some spare decals on the way to fix)

1/24 REVELL AUSTIN MINI

Calling this one done

It’s the recent Austin Mini from Revell in 1:24 which depicts a 998cc Cooper

Nice little kit, main paint is Humbrol Acrylic Racing Green and White from rattle can, interior is dark grey from Vallejo leaving the Racing Green on ‘metal’ parts as needed

Body was lightly finished with micromesh cloths then polished with Autoglym Resin Polish for real cars

Window rubber trim was done using a Sharpie, windows are attached from the outside which is different to most car kits I’ve done

Number plates were made on PC using UK number plate font and printed on photo paper

Chrome wheels were given a coat of Games Workshop black wash to remove the shine

Overall I wanted to produce a representation of a loved and used classic rather than factory fresh super shiny

Hope you enjoy
