Here are some pics of finished Lysander built OOB from Revell kit around 4 years back; a reissue of old Matchbox release
Painted by brush with Lifecolor, panel lines picked out with Games Workshop washes. I painted model using pictures on internet of real plane at Hendon and used the kit decals which match this real life example
Base is a picture frame from 99p shop covered with static grass
I fondly remember building Matchbox release in the 70s as a kid when it was moulded in 2 shades of chocolate brown, its in boring grey now
Recently finished this one
Nice kit, any faults are mine
Airbrushed with Tamiya Satin Black then Vallejo Model Air Matt Varnish to finish
An in-flight build from a few years back.
Airfix Hawk with LED in the nose inspired by a trip to Wales and seeing them zipping around on the way to and from training runs in the valleys.
Here is my Airfix Buccaneer built 5 years ago, inspired by the Rowland White book ‘Phoenix Squadron’ (Vulcan 607 is a good read too)
I built it wheels up, it needed lots of filler which in turn meant the panel lines etc got lost during sanding but I don’t think it looks too bad
All was as supplied in the box other than using the Martels (which are on the sprues but not the instructions) which needed some plastic card rails and spares box decals to match pics on the internet.
Base is a piece of a pine shelf kit with a polyfiller sea and balsa trim finished with pine colour varnish. The sea was painted with Lifecolor greygreens then sealed with ‘canopy fix’ (like Krstal Klear) which was repeated a few times to get a smooth finish after I varnished the first coat of and it all cracked (it would have made a very good dry lake bed effect …)
Plane is suspended on clear acrylic rod (brought on eBay), bent using a hot air gun paint stripper whilst wearing thick gardening gloves (still got hot hands!)

Another one from a few years back, the new tool Zero
Great little kit, all from the box and brush painted with Lifecolor

This is my take on the Airfix Fouga CM.170 Magister in 1:72
Recent reissue of the 1970s kit, mould seems to have held up OK and it fitted together neatly but it’s basic by modern standards
Plan was to build the Eire Silver & Orange version but after the silver took ages to dry (Vallejo Model Air) for some reason and many failed masking attempts I gave up and added a mix of kit and spares box decals to make a what-if USAF version
One from 2013, Eduard 1/72 Hellcat from a Profi Pack boxing which included etch for cockpit and other bits plus canopy masks
The kit is great, just falls together and the coloured etch for the cockpit is a great ‘cheat’. I left off some of the microscopic handles in the cockpit which you can’t see anyway
Main paint is all airbrushed, white is Tamiya, blues from Life-Color. I used quickshine to gloss before adding the decals and then finishing with Lifecolor satin varnish both before and after weathering.
MIG Cold Grey Wash was used over the white and intermediate blue and a mix of Humbrol BlackWhite powders with thinners to make a lighter grey wash for the dark blue. Cannon and exhaust marks are Citadel Black Wash but I’m not that happy with how that turned out so may try a bit of airbrushed matt black. Not sure what the odd stain is on the starboard tailplane, it wasn’t there before pics were taken …
This was the first time I’ve used pre cut masks; they worked really well and saved time so will definitely use again
Radio aerial was my first try with E-Z Line and it worked well too. I replaced the gun barrels with some brass tube and had to make up a pitot for the wing as the original part went AWOL at some point
Base is plastic card airbrushed with Tamiya gloss black which is finished with Eduard carrier deck section, a nice pre-coloured etched piece. This is as it comes from the packet, I may matt varnish it and weather a little later.
Did this one when it first came out a few years back, Humbrol 11 from rattle can was used for main paint
Lovely little kit
Did this one when the new tool Airfix kit came out a few years back
Main paint is Tamiya acrylic by Airbrush
Eduard pre-painted etch helped in the cockpit
