More from a few Sundays back
More from last Sunday
Never been to this before, great free event where you can go and enjoy many, many great cars (and bikes if you like that sort of thing) at the Goodwood Circuit
A few pictures for now which I hope you will enjoy, more soon.
One from 20+ years ago
It’s an AMT ‘49 Mercury, smoothed and painted with Humbrol 50 Green Mist enamel with a basic airbrush as I recall. Wipers are from fuse wire, other than that I think all the bits were as came in the box
Bit dusty after all these years but hope you enjoy
Calling this one done, bit scrappy in places (my fault) but hope you enjoy anyway
It’s the 1966 Le Mans winner as driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon from the Fujimi 1/24 kit
Paint started off well (Tamiya TS rattle can over Army Painter Matt Black primer) as did decals but I used a Humbrol 35 Gloss Varnish rattle can to seal them in and it went dull even though it was a hot day and I had warmed the can well.
I got back a bit of shine with micromesh and polish but its still dull and there is polish dust in the panel lines still that will get a bit more attention shortly
Attaching the metal vanes by the bonnet and quick release fixings caused me grief, I tried various varnishes and in the end used krystal klear as I didn’t want super glue frosting the paintwork or epoxy trails everywhere
Visited this show yesterday down in Kent (United Kingdom), fantastic collection of military (and some civilian) vehicles and associated things.
Here are a few pictures I took whilst there, hope you enjoy

Just finished this one
Tamiya Porsche 911 Turbo kit in 1/24, nice easy build; the kit is kerbside (no engine) and is ‘snap fit’ for most main parts but I used glue where necessary.
Paint is Tamiya TS-50 Mica Blue from rattle can, first time I’ve used these and was very impressed, the fine spray compared to my usual Humbrol acrylics meant the paint lasted longer; I only used one can for 2 coats of the body and underside plus mirrors which were painted separately.
Black is done with permanent marker, number plates were home made printing on photo paper.
I won’t be able to get to Goodwood Festival of Speed this year (which is happening this weekend) but thought this build from 20 years ago may be of interest
I saw this car at Goodwood in 1994 (the 2nd Festival of Speed) and took a picture in the sparse paddock, shortly afterwards I acquired a part built Merit Cooper which I cleaned up and finished to represent the same car.
Pictures are freshly taken but please remember it was built years ago. Paint was from a Carplan rattle can if I remember correctly, exhaust finished in bare metal foil and rest of the paint would have been Humbrol enamels. Fastners were etch from detail master I think.
A quick google says Stirling Moss drove it at Goodwood in 1994 but must have missed it in motion.
Take a completed, unpainted, AMT Snap together truck, take apart, paint and reassemble. Weather gently to finish …..
