FERRARI AT GOODWOOD BREAKFAST CLUB

More from last Sunday

GOODWOOD BREAKFAST CLUB MEETING

Never been to this before, great free event where you can go and enjoy many, many great cars (and bikes if you like that sort of thing) at the Goodwood Circuit

A few pictures for now which I hope you will enjoy, more soon.

1/72 AIRFIX HAWK T1

An in-flight build from a few years back.

Airfix Hawk with LED in the nose inspired by a trip to Wales and seeing them zipping around on the way to and from training runs in the valleys.

1/25 AMT 1949 MERCURY CUSTOM

One from 20+ years ago

It’s an AMT ‘49 Mercury, smoothed and painted with Humbrol 50 Green Mist enamel with a basic airbrush as I recall. Wipers are from fuse wire, other than that I think all the bits were as came in the box

Bit dusty after all these years but hope you enjoy

1/72 AIRFIX BUCCANEER

Here is my Airfix Buccaneer built 5 years ago, inspired by the Rowland White book ‘Phoenix Squadron’ (Vulcan 607 is a good read too)

I built it wheels up, it needed lots of filler which in turn meant the panel lines etc got lost during sanding but I don’t think it looks too bad

All was as supplied in the box other than using the Martels (which are on the sprues but not the instructions) which needed some plastic card rails and spares box decals to match pics on the internet.

Base is a piece of a pine shelf kit with a polyfiller sea and balsa trim finished with pine colour varnish. The sea was painted with Lifecolor greygreens then sealed with ‘canopy fix’ (like Krstal Klear) which was repeated a few times to get a smooth finish after I varnished the first coat of and it all cracked (it would have made a very good dry lake bed effect …)

Plane is suspended on clear acrylic rod (brought on eBay), bent using a hot air gun paint stripper whilst wearing thick gardening gloves (still got hot hands!)

1/24 FUJIMI FORD GT40 1966 LEMANS WINNER

Calling this one done, bit scrappy in places (my fault) but hope you enjoy anyway

It’s the 1966 Le Mans winner as driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon from the Fujimi 1/24 kit

Paint started off well (Tamiya TS rattle can over Army Painter Matt Black primer) as did decals but I used a Humbrol 35 Gloss Varnish rattle can to seal them in and it went dull even though it was a hot day and I had warmed the can well.

I got back a bit of shine with micromesh and polish but its still dull and there is polish dust in the panel lines still that will get a bit more attention shortly

Attaching the metal vanes by the bonnet and quick release fixings caused me grief, I tried various varnishes and in the end used krystal klear as I didn’t want super glue frosting the paintwork or epoxy trails everywhere

1/72 ITALERI M113

Just finished this one

A quick, fun build inspired by seeing some real M113s at last weeks War & Peace show

Found an Italeri (ex-Esci?) M113M163 Vulcan version in the stash, I added some plastic rod and strip to the turret to make it look busier than the basic plastic parts provided, its not accurate but it looks more the part to me.

A mix of kit and spares box decals were added over Vallejo Model Air Olive Drab and Dark Green, I experimented with various MIG and Humbrol enamel washes (the latter very heavily thinned) with Humbrol weathering powders mixed with both the washes and separately with a decalcotewater mix

Some thin wire adds the finishing touch for the aerials

Off to find some weedkiller now ….

1/72 AIRFIX ZERO

Another one from a few years back, the new tool Zero

Great little kit, all from the box and brush painted with Lifecolor

WAR & PEACE REVIVAL SHOW

Visited this show yesterday down in Kent (United Kingdom), fantastic collection of military (and some civilian) vehicles and associated things.

Here are a few pictures I took whilst there, hope you enjoy

1/76 BW MODELS ALVIS STALWART

Always liked the Stalwart since having a toy Corgi one in BP exploration markings as a kid

Built this BW Models white metal version a few years back, its very heavy!

Main paint is Tamiya, cab was a pig to fit and blend in but it looks OK with my other Alvis 6 wheelers (Airfix/JB Saladin and Saracen)
